Across the rainbow bridge:
Bonnie:
On December 7, 2010, Bonnie was humanely laid to rest. Bonnie had
multiple bone infections inside of her left front hoof (not a normal
abscess but actual infection into the bone) and several other issues
within that hoof, as well as other lameness problems, that made putting
her to sleep the kindest option.
Bob ("Think About
Mister") On 4/15/11, Bob crossed the rainbow bridge. Bob had
suffered for many years with the nasty symptoms of HYPP, even though he
was only NH. He was a happy boy who lived a comfortable life for these
past several years. He was incredibly lucky to be very loved by Kelli
and Harold, and his mare Ginny, those past several years.
Boss was a
geriatric former petting zoo "pony" (all 2200 lbs and 17+hh of him),
who left our world simply of old age in December 2009. His family gave
him a wonderful life his last years, and he is missed every day.
Buddy was a geriatric former "pony ride machine"
pony, who had been badly foundered. He had a wonderful retirement with
another retired foundered mare, with superb care.
Cheveyo:
On June 11, 2008, Cheveyo was rushed to the university vet hospital for
an
extreme bout of colic. Attempted colic surgery discovered
massive
lesions and tumors in his abdomen. He was allowed to remain at rest and
to bring
his extreme suffering to an end.
Fancy,
1999 model Halflinger mare starvation case, arrived Oct '11with extreme
hoof issues, neglect and starvation. The hoof damage could not be
repaired to any reasonable level of quality of life, and we made the
decision to lay her to rest 12/1/11 and end her suffering.
GrayC: On January 26, 2006, we had
to put a
horse to rest for
the first time. GrayC
was a darling Arabian mare
who tragically had a compound break of a hind leg and was humanely
euthanized when the vets confirmed there was nothing they can do. We
will never forget you, GrayC.
Hagrid and Diego: Rest in peace, dear sweet old friends.
These two
gentlemen were lucky enough to have several years in the kindest, most
loving of adoptive homes,
when Mother Nature finally insisted it was Diego's time, and
Hagrid (also elderly, in ill health, and terribly attached to his dear
friend) was lovingly allowed to cross the rainbow bridge with him.
Prince Charming: Rest in
peace, you sweet gentle giant. Prince suffered from a neurologic
condition caused by tumors on his spinal cord and a condition known as
Wobblers wherein his rapid growth to such an unusual size lead to
pressure on his spinal cord, causing neurologic symptoms as well
including tripping, loss of balance, stumbling, weak muscling in his
hind end, etc. We did the kindest thing and laid Prince to rest before
he reached the point where he could not walk or where he fell and hurt
himself badly.
Rocky crossed
the rainbow bridge in fall
2007. This darling miniature/pony cross will
be loved and remembered forever by so many. We miss you, Rockers, every
day.
