Skills/Training
"Report Card"

|
Overall
Health:
A
|
Arrival: excellent, always kept current on medical care,
etc. Needs some exercise to improve muscle tone.
Ideal weight, estimated body score 5.0. |
|
Ground
Manners:
B
|
Arrival:
Baby is mildly attached to Rosie and can get excited if she is led
somewhere without him. He is slightly pushy on a lead, and will plant
his feet if unsure he wishes to go where you are leading.
8/20/2010: Baby is already showing better manners about being led,
going where asked, and separating from Rosie.
|
|
Basic
Riding Skills:
B
|
- Arrival: Baby had 60 days saddle training, at
CWER, 3 years ago. He has done light trail work since.
- More information as time allows for first rides
here.

|
Ideal
Career
|
Baby
is a classic gaited horse, with the build, the personality, and the
will to go fast over long sections of ground. Baby would love doing
competitive trails, mounted orienteering, long trail rides. Could
easily learn parades, etc.
|
|
Stall
Manners
B
|
Baby has spent some time stalled previously. His manners are good, but
he is ready to go back to pasture, especially once Rosie has gone.
|
|
Trailering
Skills:
B
|
Baby
loaded within 10 minutes of beginning asking, and rode well. He was
anxious to get off the trailer but still respectful.
|
|
Companionship
/ Pasture Manners
A
|
Baby has always lived in a nice sized small pasture with other horses,
and is a typical gelding -- staying out of 90% of the drama. He isn't
fussy with others but enjoys company and would not enjoy being kept
alone.
|
|
Manageability
for Routine and Medical Care
B+
|
Arrival -- he is well mannered but a little unsure for the farrier, and
easy for
worming. We have not attempted needles, etc.
|
| Adoption
Terms |
Adopted,
8/20/2010!!
Baby has not yet had any riding time at CWER, so we cannot currently
assess his level of skill or the level of rider who could handle him.
We anticipate doing so in early September, and his adoption fees may
change at that time.
For an upper intermediate rider who wishes to adopt Baby "as is",
without us doing any evaluation or training time, his fee is $1,500.
This may be adjusted as training work continues.
If an adopter wishes, we will add an additional 30 days
training in their area of interest for a discounted rate of $250.00.
Please see our AdoptionQnA pages for
details of how to adopt.
|
Overview: Baby's human family have had financial challenges, and
asked us to take Baby and Rosie and find them new forever homes. Baby
has always been a bit faster and a bit more eager to go than his rider
generally preferred, so she asks us to be sure an adopter knows that he
is a typical gaited horse -- with lots of GO.
HISTORY:
He
needs a feed sponsor.
The
feed
sponsor donates to cover the cost of her feed monthly -- $35 per month
at this time.
He also
needs a
medical sponsor.
Baby is NOT registered
nor able to be registered in a specific breed registry as far as we
know. There are numerous 'color based' registries and 'gaiting' based
registries to which he could likely easily be accepted.
