The 2007 event was spectacular! We had a fabulous time, and so
did several HUNDRED visitors!
GREAT WEATHER! The weather was perfect - in the 80s, light breeze, clear
skies.
GREAT HELP! A large, fantastic core of volunteers made sure our
guests had everything they needed, answered questions, led
pony rides, and allowed Mike and AnnMarie to remain available
for questions, demonstrations, etc. THANK
YOU, volunteers, every one!!!
GREAT TURNOUT! Our extensive press coverage, and Steve Downey's purchased
advertising, drew folks from every direction -- some first
time visitors came from over an hour away!
GREAT
FOOD! Two fabulous volunteers netted us nearly $200
between the grill and beverages, thank you both!!!
GREAT EVENTS! Our extensive speaker/demo schedule was a huge hit. Next
year we will plan to keep the demo area active straight
through the main 4 hours of the event. This year we were quite
close -- with typically 5-10 minute gaps within each hour.
Many guests stayed seated and listened to 2-3-4 demos/speakers
in a row!
At 1:30PM, 8-year old Christopher's round penning demo drew
a lot of attention! He and Sonny were terrific together, and
Chris' confidence led to numerous event guests -- some with no
horse experience at all -- to volunteer to try the 'horse
whispering' activity with Mike's guidance!
At 2:00 PM Dr Dan King's horse chiropractic &
acupuncture demo was the best attended of all our events.
Memphis Belle's affinity for acupuncture intrigued many of our
guests.
At 2:30PM Gary Herzog, certified nutritionist, discussed how
to stretch hay safely in drought years like 2007, which was
also VERY well attended and actually ran beyond his half hour
with extensive question & answer from our attendees.
At 430PM Andrew Kaluf and Buster demonstrated western
pleasure show riding at its finest, performing a complex show
pattern.
The rest of the day contained hoof care demos, more
training/natural horsemanship demonstrations,
ground-driving demos
which were also very well received.

If
all goes well...this will be CWER's last event at this Tuscola property!
We need YOUR help to
sell the Tuscola property, so that CWER can relocate to a farm with significant
pasture space, where we can expand our work. Please see our
home page for more details.

What
a huge success...were our
RAFFLES!
Every year we do several specific raffles for
one large prize, then a general raffle with a broad range of great, mostly
horse-related prizes. Winners who are present at the drawing get to choose their
general raffle prize!
This fabulous Full-Size quilt by famous
quilter, Lucy Cross... Karen
Kaluf brought a magnificent hand-made basket again this year, PLUS the gorgeous
custom made fleece blanket just for the volunteers-only raffle...
AND...this beautiful bridle/breastplate combo donated by Missy
M!!

GENERAL
RAFFLE ITEMS:
Our general raffle had
more than FORTY prizes in it, thanks largely to the McMaster family and
hoofprints.com! These prizes included...
Tickets were available via mail in advance
and all day at the event. Winner need not be present, and many prizes are yet to
be mailed to their new homes! Thank you for your patience as we settle
everything from this great event and get those prizes taken care of.... We
cover mailing costs to send prizes to those who are not in attendance at the
drawing!
