Summary: Penny was rescued from the Arthur sale. Due to the extreme hay prices this year, even more weanlings than usual are going to slaughter. The CWER family outbid the meat buyer and purchased Penny with plans to bring her up to full health, help her mature healthily, and train her to ride and/or drive. Penny was adopted to a wonderful loving home in southern Illinios, where she will get to spend her 2-year old year just being a pony, and start her riding training in spring of '07. CONGRATS, PENNY and family!!

History: Penny was rescued from the Arthur auction where, due to the high hay prices, she would've been sent to slaughter.

October 2005
Penny is a cute, sweet, darling little girl. She is learning ground manners, and how to have her feet handled. She had her teeth checked during a recent dental visit, and they're doing just fine.
January 2006 Penny is really a joy to be around. she's a bit of a trickster, and likes to test and question what the rules are. She leads well, is learning to work in the round pen, and learning to cross tie. She is good with her feet, and really enjoys handling and brushing. In preparation for the spring ahead, Penny has been saddled numerous times, and we've started to show her what ground driving is with just leads on a halter. We cannot wait to see who she is on her first real ride!
From her adoptive Mom, June 06' She is gaining weight really well. We are having fun with her. We have worked with her a little just some ground work and let her get used to a bit. She took it fine it didn't really seem to bother her much at all. She has friends now. The boys (Jack and Red) are finally getting along with her and my mare Splash is back from the trainer barn and they are best friends you would think they have known each other all their lives. We really love her and she is doing great.

SPONSORSHIP: Penny is one lucky penny! she has been sponsored by Heather O and family, who paid for her first worming and provided for her November feeds, then picked up regular sponsorship from there. Thank you so much for your support! They've come to visit Penny about once per month since her arrival, and have even tried to buy her 2 winter blankets, but she's too small (and plenty warm) for them!
