Dear Gordon and the RCR gang:

It is always a joy to read your great magazine! As you may know, I am no longer working in the RC industry. I now run our horse rescue full time. I sure miss all the great r/c-ers I got to talk and email with while at Futaba/Great Planes! I am writing to ask a huge favor, and hopefully my request also lets me do a favor for many of your readers!

Modelers often stumble over items they haven’t used in ages and need to get rid of. I am writing to ask those modelers to please take a moment, box these misc. items up – from standard servos to partially built kits, and anything in between – and donate them to our rescue. “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure”…well, in our world that “junk” generates much needed feed for yet another man’s discarded animals. It need not be $500 items – simple things like used radios, old kits, used engines, even partially- or built cars, boats or aircraft. We are happy to provide a receipt for each donation, which may be tax deductible for the donor (the same tax benefits as United Way, etc.). Any assistance your readers can provide us would be GREATLY appreciated.

Right now is a very critical time for us. We must prove to the IRS that the public considers our cause worthwhile and supports us, particularly financially. The simplest of otherwise-discarded items from modelers can help them clear their workspace (and maybe make the wife happy?!), while doing wonders toward helping us meet our goals. Readers can learn more at http://www.crosswindseqresq.org or call or email us any time!

Again, thanks so very much for the superb magazine you produce and for taking the time to read this. If you wouldn’t mind me bothering you once more, I’d be glad to let you know what kinds of items are donated and show what great things your readers have done!

Sincerely,

Mrs. AnnMarie Cross
