12yo BLM wild
mustang mare, no brand, 60 days professional riding training |
| Summary:
|
We were planning on meeting Sierra
and her mom, Linda, under wonderful terms -- Sierra had a good basic
riding foundation but needed some high skills education and she was
going to come to us some time winter 2008 for training. Then Sierra's
mom took a terrible slip and fall which required hip replacement.
Sierra came early for her training while mom was laid up.
Sadly, Linda has had to admit that she will never
be able to really ride again, and doesn't want to leave such a happy,
eager, willing riding horse stuck as just a lawn ornament the rest of
her Life. So, Linda has donated Sierra to CWER for us to find her a
working forever home.
We're thrilled to announce that Sierra is adopted
and will be going home with Paris and Sonny!

We
loved having Sierra here for training, and enjoy her still now. We look
forward to finding her the right forever partner and future. |

Sierra is a pure joy to ride. She
is VERY eager to try to understand what is asked of her and to obey
instruction. She is fairly forward, and moves off into a trot now with
minimal input from her rider. Her balance is exceptional at a walk and
improving every ride at the trot. She understands leg yielding and will
move her shoulder via leg as well. She will halt with minimal rein
input by rider weight and voice adjustment alone.
Sierra's mom reports she can be a little spooky
when trail riding outside. We've not yet explored this with her, but
are hopeful we can help her past any fears she may have.

| December 2008 |
Sierra has proven herself to be
ideal as an early intermediate riders mount and even lesson horse.
We've had a variety of riders work with Sierra, and she's shown herself
to be patient and easy and very responsive to an instructor on the
ground for all her working sessions. We are thrilled that she is going
home with Pam to join Sonny and Paris and Tennyson, and that Sally will
also be fostering with them this winter! |

Apparently Sierra and a group of wild
mustangs were kept on a farmer's facility. When he passed away, the
horses were split up and went to other homes. Sierra came to Linda's
world, and learned her fantastic ground manners and superb behavior
riding at a walk while with Linda. |
